How to detect beats and add markers

Beat Detector uses four steps: Open, Select, Analyze and Results.

1. Open Beat Detector

Open Adobe Premiere Pro and load the project containing your music.
Open the sequence you want to analyze.
Open blinkl.io.
Launch Beat Detector from blinkl.io or from the Ring.

Keep Premiere Pro, the sequence and blinkl.io open throughout the analysis.

2. Select the audio

Choose the part of the sequence to analyze:

Entire timeline
In/Out points
Selected clips

3. Analyze

Start the analysis. Beat Detector exports the required audio and analyzes its rhythm. Keep Premiere Pro and blinkl.io open until the results appear.

4. Configure the results

Beat Detector marker configuration controls.

Choose:

Low, medium or high sensitivity.
Minimum and maximum BPM.
Marker frequency.
Marker color.
Sequence or clip marker placement.

Review the live marker count, then confirm to place the markers.

Start again

You can remove markers placed by the current result and run a new analysis with different settings.

If the analysis finds no beats, confirm that the intended audio track is selected in the preview, is not muted in Premiere Pro and contains more than a few seconds of audible content. If beats were detected but none match the result filters, widen the BPM range or adjust sensitivity and frequency.

Clip-marker placement requires a single compatible clip selection. Choose sequence markers when you want markers on the active sequence instead.
